Corinium Museum wins regional tourism award

Leading tourism businesses from South West England celebrated in style on April 7.
They presented over 90 awards at the 2021/22 South West Tourism Excellence Awards, including the team from Corinium Museum in Cirencester, which has won the Small Visitor Attraction Bronze Award.
Museum director Dr Katharine Walker said: "The team and I are proud to have won this award. It was great to enter, be a finalist and win Bronze. We are delighted to have received and be part of such a prestigious group of businesses representing tourism in the South West. There was some stiff competition!"
The event was the first time since February 2020 that the region's tourism awards have been able to return to their face-to-face format, with a celebratory dinner enjoyed by more than 300 winners, supporters, and tourism leaders.
During the evening, Kathryn Allison, director of IPR Communications, who represented the museum, commented: "I know the sheer hard work the team has put into the museum over the last five to ten years. Firstly to open the brand new Stone Age to Corinium immersive galleries, and secondly to ensure the health and wellbeing of their visitors, volunteers and staff over recent years.
"It truly is a remarkable place to be. I send my hearty congratulations to the team and the South West Tourism Awards organisers who created a wonderful evening of celebration."
