College staff and pupils smash target for food bank donations

Challenged to collect 500 items for food banks, students, parents and staff at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College's Berkeley Green UTC smashed their target.

Over 10 days, the college saw more than 600 items donated, all of which will be delivered to food banks on the last day of term.

Ed McMullan, chair of the student council said that he had been surprised and thrilled to see the generosity shown.

"Students have been coming in with bags of donations including everything from tooth brushes to tins of beans," he said.

"It's brilliant to belong to a college that comes together in this way when Food banks are in such high demand.

"Hopefully this collection will help to make someone's Christmas a bit more special."

SGS Berkeley Green UTC will be holding their next open day on Saturday, January 25, between 10am and 1pm.
