A three-month closure order has been served on a property in Gloucester following ongoing reports of anti-social behaviour.

The order was issued to 78 High Street, Tredworth by Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team as a result of numerous reports of ASB.

The successful application was made to Cheltenham Magistrates' Court today and the order will be in place for the next three months.

The order was granted after magistrates, sitting at Cirencester, felt that the evidence collected by officers justified the closure order.

Officers had sought the order to prevent ongoing anti-social behaviour and disorder linked to the premises from continuing.

It will be in effect until 29 October 2021 and prevents anyone other than the owner or members of the emergency services from entering the address.

PCSO Morag Gordon, who had worked to gather evidence for the closure order, said: "This is a fantastic result that will help to ensure that residents in Tredworth can live free from the issues that have been making their lives difficult."

Inspector Ash Shingler, from Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Closure orders are an important tool for us to stop ongoing anti-social behaviour and allow us to restrict who can attend the locations.

"The team are determined to ensure residents across Gloucester are able to live and work in a city that is free from the problems of anti-social behaviour in their local communities.

"I would like to thank the officers and partners involved in their hard work to obtain the order."

The closure power is a fast, flexible power that can be used to protect victims and communities by quickly closing premises that are causing nuisance or disorder.

The orders are designed to tackle serious and persistent forms of antisocial behaviour and close a property completely or partially whilst preventing access by any persons.

Failure to comply with the order is a criminal offence which could result in imprisonment for up to three months, a fine, or both.
