Clap for our carers: National round of applause planned for 8pm tonight

People across the UK are being urged to join a round of applause for the heroes tackling the Coronavirus Crisis at 8pm tonight (Thursday).

The community-spirited initiative looks to commend NHS staff, carers and other key workers for their continued hard work during the current coronavirus outbreak.

"During these unprecedented times, they need to know that we are grateful," the poster being shared across social media says.

Organisers of the 'clap for our carers' campaign are calling the British public to spare a few moments of their time whilst in lockdown and clap their hands together in harmony.

At 8pm tonight, join thousands of Brits and simply clap your hands together from the comfort of your front door, garden, balcony, window or living room.

Do your bit and show your support for workers on the front-line fighting Covid-19.

Those who choose to take part are urged to film or live stream it, uploading the footage to social media using the hashtag #clapforourcarers.

Residents in other countries including Spain, France and the Netherlands have already taken part in similar rounds of applause as a token of support for healthcare workers across the world in these tough times.
