Cirencester College to build £4.48m Digital Skills Centre

Cirencester College has received the go-ahead for a brand new £4.48 million Digital Skills Centre.

Jim Grant, principal at Cirencester College, said: "We are absolutely delighted with the news we have received today. This money will support a brand new landmark building that will transform the professional and technical provision at Cirencester College.

"Furthermore, this project will make a powerful contribution to Gloucestershire's digital skills needs and provide routes into the exciting new cyber industries. We'd like to thank GFirst LEP for their continued support."

The £4.48 million is part of a £11.3 million grant received by Gloucestershire's Local Enterprise Partnership, GFirst LEP, and will be split between five different projects within the county. The grant came from central Government's wider scheme 'Getting Building Fund', which overall will be granting £900 million to various organisations across the country.

At Cirencester College, the grant share of £4.48 million will build a brand new building that will offer resources, equipment and skills needed in both the Cyber and Digital sectors. 'The Gloucestershire Applied Digital Skills Centre' at Cirencester College will create opportunities for students to excel within these industries both in their time at college and into their future career paths in these growing sectors.

The project is expected to be completed by late 2021/early 2022.
