Cirencester butcher is best in the South

A Cirencester butcher has been named as South of England Butcher's Shop of the Year in the National Butchers Shop of the Year Awards.

Jesse Smith Farm Shop picked up the award, which recognises excellence and innovation in butchery, at a ceremony at London's County Hall.

The awards were organised by industry title, Meat Trades Journal.

Meat Trades Journal deputy editor Aidan Fortune said the judging for this year's awards had been particularly tough, with all entries displaying an outstanding level of quality.

"This has been one of the toughest years of judging Butcher's Shop of the Year. Every single entry had a top-quality business and made a strong case for winning their category."
