Cinema ticket prices up 40 per cent

Cineworld have increased their prices by over 40 per cent since they have been allowed to reopen their screens.

A spokesperson for the cinema said the rise was driven by customer behaviour and timing of film releases.

The company suffered $515.2 million USD in losses in the first half of the year, but since reopening, trading has been positive. Shares have risen this morning as investors look to a brighter future where lockdowns are a thing of the past.

Despite increasing ticket prices, meaning customers spent more this year when visiting, the company reported revenue decline to $292.8 million.
