Cheltenham Town FC’s ground re-named after Gloucestershire business

If ever fans of the Robins were in doubt their ground was going places in style - then naming it after a luxury VIP chauffeur business should convince them.

Cheltenham Town Football Club has revealed its Whaddon Road ground will be called the Jonny-Rocks Stadium for the 2018/2019 season and beyond.

The Gloucestershire-headquartered executive car service company will take over from LCI Rail on a three-year deal from today.

Andy Wilcox, chairman of the club, and also the owner and CEO of LCI Rail, said: "I have met Jonathan a couple of times and he has a good business model so with the stadium sponsorship his branding will certainly be out there, and I look forward to seeing him at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium soon.

"The credit goes to John Finnigan who has been the kingpin in negotiations to make this happen. John has always had this club's interests at heart from his playing days to this present time.

"I also can't wait for Jeff Stelling's reaction to the new name of the stadium when there's a goal! Obviously a Cheltenham goal!"

Jonathan Horrocks, managing director of JONNY-ROCKS, which specialises in business and private VIP across the South West, said: "I'm absolutely delighted to embark on this new partnership and look forward to welcoming fans to the Jonny-Rocks Stadium for the new Sky Bet League Two season.

"I'm a proud Cheltenham Town supporter, even proposing to my girlfriend at the Portsmouth game two seasons ago, so I'm really excited about this latest adventure.

"JONNY-ROCKS have been a proud sponsor of the club for the last two years and this latest agreement will mean we that we can support the Robins even further.

"Cheltenham Town represents the perfect platform and opportunity to expand our JONNY-ROCKS brand awareness and become more visible across not only Gloucestershire but the whole of the south west."

The first competitive match at the newly-named Jonny-Rocks Stadium will take place on Saturday, July 21 against Birmingham City.
