Cheltenham firms support tech company expansion

Cheltenham-based Hazlewoods and BPE Solicitors have recently advised Bamboo Technology Group Ltd on its strategic acquisition of TechTeam Group Ltd, a customer-focused technology business with expertise in the small to mid-market.

The deal was guided by James Whittaker, Hazlewoods corporate finance director, and Adam Kean, BPE Solicitors partner, who worked with Cheltenham-based Bamboo to further expand its group of businesses.

Since the acquisition of Tech Op Solutions in 2019, Bamboo has successfully transitioned from its roots in telecoms service provision to become an ICT managed services provider in the South West cyber and technology communities.

Hazlewoods advised Bamboo on the structure of the transaction, funding arrangements and provided financial and taxation due diligence support. BPE Solicitors oversaw the legal elements of the acquisition, advising Bamboo on the transaction documents and undertaking legal due diligence.

James Whittaker said: "We are delighted to have been able to assist Bamboo with the successful acquisition of TechTeam. The transaction represents a good outcome for all parties. We wish the business and its employees every success for the future."

Adam Kean said: "This is an exciting opportunity for Bamboo and TechTeam. It was fantastic to support the team in completing this acquisition and I look forward to seeing Bamboo continue on its growth journey."

As part of Bamboo's continued growth strategy, joining forces with TechTeam will assist in strengthening its position in providing the essential infrastructure for companies to build their digital future and transform their IT and telecommunications.

Lorrin White, CEO of Bamboo, said: "Along with the rest of the board, I am delighted to welcome TechTeam to the Bamboo family. We are now uniquely positioned to educate and inform a broad audience of businesspeople, so that they can confidently connect and grow."

James Green, TechTeam founder and CEO, said: "Our strong service ethos and people culture is also very much in evidence at Bamboo, and alongside our established managed service model, we are looking forward to working together to create opportunities."
