Cheltenham care home celebrates launch of renovated residential suite

A care home in Cheltenham celebrated the launch of its refurbished suite with a VIP guest.

Care UK's Sandfields, on St George's Road, has unveiled a residential suite which will be home for up to 15 residents.

The Austen Suite, located on the home's ground floor, consists of 15 newly refurbished bedrooms, each with patio doors which lead to the home's private garden.

The suite also features a communal lounge and dining area. The layout has been designed to encourage the creation of close-knit communities within the home.

The Mayor of Cheltenham, Councillor Sandra Holliday, was invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the home's new suite in the presence of the Care UK team and the first residents moving in.

To add to the celebrations, everyone was treated to cakes and a glass of bubbly.

Malaika Charles, home manager at Sandfields, said: "It was a pleasure to have the mayor join us and cut the ribbon to mark this special occasion. We would also like to thank everyone who joined us to celebrate the unveiling of our new Austen Suite. We look forward to welcoming residents into their new home.

"The new suite means we can now meet the demand in Cheltenham and beyond for residential care. It was great to showcase the types of care we will be able to offer to the local community and show what life is like at Sandfields."

Sandfields is said to provide full-time residential, dementia, nursing and short-term respite care. The home, which features 90 en-suite bedrooms, has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, whilst also promoting independence.
