Cheltenham-based businesswoman honoured at awards that champion sustainability

The managing director of a Cheltenham-based company who are at the forefront of driving sustainability in the business services has been recognised as one of the leaders in her field.

Simone Hindmarch, MD of Commercial who have their headquarters in Leckhampton, was named as one of the Leaders of the Year in the edie Sustainability Leaders Awards 2020.

The awards celebrate organisations that have put sustainability at the forefront of their operations, business models and products and delivered demonstrable results for doing so.

Shortlisted in the Sustainability Leader of the Year category, Simone was honoured for her role in growing Commercial, a business in which social and environmental change is a key principle.

She said: "I'm so proud to have been shortlisted for this award. We were the only business services company represented in the category.

"We have an extraordinary team whose energy, belief and ingenuity are changing the model for modern businesses.

"Our Change Champions are not only helping us to continuously improve the environmental performance of our own business, we're collaborating with customers and partners to create positive impacts throughout the supply chain and within our communities.

"Simply, we're making it easy to source responsibly and be a force for good. The pride I feel is for their accomplishments, and for all that is yet to come."

Luke Nicholls, director of edie and co-chair of the Awards, added: "Our judges thought Simone stood out as an exceptional role model, demonstrating leadership through empowering others to make significant and sustainable change.

"She has not only led the charge in her own organisation to reduce its impact on the environment, but also shared the highs and lows of the journey with the business world through numerous speaking engagements and by holding their own CSR conferences.

"Our judges commend Simone for all that Commercial has already achieved and for the long-lasting positive impacts of their approach."
