Cheltenham bakery business on the rise

Cheltenham artisan bakery business Four Anjels Ltd is celebrating the sweetness of success after completing a deal with an Evesham-based food group.

Olidor Group Ltd has acquired a majority stake in the business which has made tasty treats for the likes of Pret A Manger, M&S and Dunelm

Its range of bespoke cakes, traybakes and biscuits include gluten free and vegan treats made at its factory in Furlong Park, Bishops Cleeve.

The investment will see the two business combine forces to help the bakery expand and rise to new heights.

"We are thrilled to have the support of the Olidor Group to facilitate the delivery of our growth plans, said Andrea Stevens, managing director of Four Anjels Ltd.

"Their expertise within the food industry and synergies with other companies within the group will be an enormous benefit.

"Olidor's commitment to invest in the business will enable us to recruit more team members and add further capabilities to our product range".

Established in 2010 by Andrea Stevens, Steve Greenhalgh, Dr Barry Cronin and Trevor Stephens, Four Anjels began with five staff and one oven.

It was inspired by the quartet's vision of creating a bakery in the heart of the Cotswolds to make bespoke hand made products.

In 2022 it upgraded from a factory in Moreton-in Marsh to its current 24,827 sq ft HQ following a £1.5million loan from NatWest. At the time it was hand-making around 700,000 portions per month- ranging from shortbread to gluten-free brownies.

Today it has a team of 39 local employees and the bakery runs 24 hours a day, five days a week.

The investment by Olidor will help it realise new opportunities for product development, increased production capabilities and broader market reach.

Headquartered in the tiny Worcestershire village of Offenham, food group Olidor has a portfolio which includes Brusco Food Group, The Original Baker, The Artful Baker, Karimix, Mayfair Foods and Porter Foods.

This latest acquisition will see Four Anjels continue to operate as a standalone business, while also gaining access to the group's extensive resources and capabilities.

It will allow the bakery business to create new product lines, enhance distribution channels, increase production and improve sustainability through ingredient sourcing, environmentally friendly packaging and energy-efficient production processes.

Andrew Ashby, CEO of Olidor Group Ltd, said "We have long admired the products and ambition of the team at Four Anjels. Their dedication to crafting exceptional products and continuous innovation is something that aligns deeply with our values.

"By joining forces, we can leverage our collective strengths to drive continued innovation, ultimately benefiting our customers and strengthening our position in the market".
