Cheltenham accountants join forces with UK-wide firm

Cheltenham-based accountancy firm Davies Mayers Barnett has joined forces with one of the UK's fastest-growing practices.

Davies Mayers Barnett is the latest practice to join the South West Region of Baldwins Accountancy Group. This will build on their success in the region over the last year, taking the regional count up to five offices as part of their strategic expansion plan.

The 70-strong business, with annual revenues in excess of £3.5 million, has joined Baldwins, one of the leading accounting tax and advisory firms, which has an annual turnover in excess of £90 million and employs over 1,500 people.

Tim Davies, senior partner at Davies Mayers Barnett, said this was a perfect fit for both businesses.

"This year we are celebrating our 25th anniversary and it seems appropriate that we are now starting a new era in our history.

"Baldwins is a forward-thinking organisation, which is strategically expanding into all areas of the UK and we are excited to become part of their gateway from the Midlands to the South West.

"We will retain our individual culture and ethos, and client focused personal partner led service, but we will now be able to offer our clients a wider range of services and access to industry specialists.

"This is a great opportunity to grow our business, which will be enhanced by the investment capacity and specialisms within Baldwins. We already have an excellent team of professionals here and we will be aiming to increase recruitment to push forward and achieve our growth plans."

Shaun Knight, Director of Baldwins, said the long-term vision of Davies Mayers Barnett was identical to Baldwins.

"A decision was taken at board level to grow the business throughout the UK and this is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact on the local business community.

"Davies Mayers Barnett has a strong team of partners and directors and has built a great reputation throughout Gloucestershire and neighbouring counties over the last 25 years.

"Our support and investment will benefit their clients, since we will be able to provide assistance in strengthening the quality and range of services they offer, which will help both businesses to expand."

Baldwins joined forces with Gloucester-based accountancy firm, Berkeley Hamilton, in 2015.
