Charity donation ahead of Quedgeley shop opening

Home Bargains has donated £2,000 to a Gloucestershire charity ahead of opening a new shop in Quedgeley.

The retail chain will open the new branch, which will create 54 new jobs, at Quedgeley Retail Park on Saturday.

And it has made the donation to Gloucestershire Bundles which provides emergency packages of toiletries, clothing and equipment to pregnant women and families with children up to the age of 16 who find themselves in crisis situations.

Charity' trustees Stacey Brayshaw and Dawn Dolphin said: "The very kind donation of £2,000 will enable us to purchase items that we cannot accept as preloved such as mattresses, toiletries and nappies as well as items that aren't often donated to us such as baby monitors, electric sterilisers and stair gates."

Home Bargains, which has more than 500 outlets across the UK, has invested approximately £1million in the 19,763sq ft store which previously housed Next and Brantano Footwear.

Store manager James Prosser said: "It's a huge honour to be opening our new Quedgeley store this weekend and something that I'm exceptionally proud of.

"Quedgeley Retail Park will be a great location for us and we're proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices."
