Gloucester's city centre Station Road taxi rank, in front of Grosvenor House, has been altered to allow for construction of The Forum - Gloucester's state-of-the-art £107m digital quarter.

Taxi users can be reassured that services will continue to be offered from this location albeit accessed in a slightly different way.

The new arrangement for the taxi stand, which is in the area of the city formerly known as Kings Quarter, will remain in place for approximately two years until completion of the new development, which is being brought forward by Gloucester City Council in partnership with Reef Group.

Contractors Kier recently started works on the second phase of The Forum that will include the development of Grade A workspace, a four-star hotel, rooftop restaurant and state-of-the-art digital conference facilities, as well as a wellness centre and members club.

Phase one is already under construction and will see 43 one, two and three-bedroom apartments; cafes, bars, and restaurants and 5,000 sq ft of retail space which will be occupied by Tesco. This phase is due to complete by autumn 2022.

The Forum is set to attract a mix of tech businesses from start-ups to big occupiers, tapping into the booming digital and cyber-technology industry in Gloucestershire, as well as providing workspace suitable for 'hybrid' working.

Due to be completed in summer 2024, The Forum is part of a multi-million-pound regeneration scheme underway in the city centre that includes the revamp of Kings Square into a world-class events space.

Cllr Richard Cook, leader of Gloucester City Council, said: "The alterations of the taxi rank will allow us to press on with the exciting development of The Forum in the city centre. The investment into this project will help make the city a 'future ready' place to live, work and visit."
