Celeb players to join The Nelson Trust's charity golf day

Stroud-based charity The Nelson Trust is set to host its annual charity golf day at Minchinhampton Golf Club on September 3.

Hosted by The Nelson Trust CEO John Trolan, 23 teams will be competing for the Richard Lister Memorial Cup.

Ex-Arsenal and England Captain Tony Adams will attend the day. Teams also have the opportunity of a lifetime to bid in advance of the day to have rugby stars Mike Tindall and Lee Mears as part of their four ball and be regaled about their times on the Lions and England squads.

Players could even win a new BMW for a hole in one, as happened in 2019.

Director of sponsor Cotswold BMW, Paul Neale said: "Cotswold BMW Cheltenham are proud to continue to support the Nelson Trust as they have in the previous few years. Supporting local charities aligns with our desire to support our local communities as much as we can."

RenGen Developments are also sponsors of the event. CEO Iestyn Lewis said: "We are delighted to be involved with both these fabulous occasions and are especially pleased to be able to bring top rugby stars Jeremy Guscot, Martin Haag, Matt Perry and Phil de Glanville to the golf day".

Auction lots include a signed rugby shirt, a cricket bat signed by Gordon Greenwich and two tickets for the 2022 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth and four places in the Chairman's box at a Sale Sharks Rugby Club home game.

The Nelson Trust helps provides rehabilitation from addiction and substance abuse for men and women. It gives them hope and support for long-term recovery and the belief and confidence which they need to achieve this.

The Trust also supports vulnerable women in the community who need help with a variety of matters such as physical/mental health, accommodation, finance and family relationships.

The Golf Day is £100 per person with breakfast rolls on arrival and a two-course lunch at the clubhouse. The Golf Day is fully subscribed but you can contact The Nelson Trust to be added to the waiting list.
