Campaigners raise a glass to pub re-opening plans

Gloucester councillor Andrew Gravells and city MP Richard Graham have welcomed plans to re-open a city pub.

The Ridge and Furrow pub in Abbeydale Gloucester closed in 2013 and since then has been boarded up.

Now following a campaign to get it re-opened, owners Trust Inns have announced the pub will soon be back in business.

City Cllr Gravells (Abbeydale), a former Mayor of Gloucester,  said today he was delighted.

He told Punchline: "This is such great news for Abbeydale and Abbeymead. I've campaigned for the pub to be re-opened for a long time. It just proves that it pays to stick to your guns when you're sure you're right."

And Richard Graham said: ""After years of uncertainty this is a good step forward for local residents and the area. This is another step forward for regeneration in Gloucester."
