Call to support canal’s future

A Stonehouse firm is urging others to follow in its footsteps to support fundraising for the Cotswold Canals.

Cotswold Canals is offering businesses the chance to celebrate success with a bespoke mooring bollard, which is a unique reminder of the industrial heritage of the local community.

Westend Office Suites was the first business to sponsor a bollard. It said it hopes other companies will do the same, as the restoration of the canal will be a boost to the local area and the bollard is a long-lasting advertisement for the businesses.

Each bollard along the towpath of the Cotswold Canals will be a unique design, incorporating a company's logo. The bollards will commemorate a company's contribution to the area's industrial heritage and provide interest and education for future generations.

Around 100 new bollards are set to be installed between Stonehouse and Saul Junction.

Cotswold Canals' engineering team will provide a bespoke design to be inlaid on the top of a mooring bollard and arrange installation at a suitable location along the towpath.
