Call to action for jobs heads online

Gloucester MP Richard Graham has teamed up with Gloucester Rugby chief executive Lance Bradley to launch the website for the Gloucestershire Jobs, Skills & Apprenticeships LiftOff.

The event - a call to action on jobs and opportunities as the furlough scheme winds down - will be held at Kingsholm on Friday, September 11.

The website (glosliftoff.co.uk ) will provide details of the schedule and allow people to register - as well as streaming it live.

Mr Graham said: "The Glos LiftOff provides a chance to meet great employers and skills providers under one roof, to get tips for employers and jobseekers from live streaming and to share information about the challenges and opportunities ahead across the county."

Supported by Gloucestershire County Council, SpiraxSarco, EDF, GFirstLEP, University of Gloucestershire, Western Power Distribution, JobCentre Plus, Gloucestershire College and GlosJobs, the event will be opened by employment minister Mims Davies who will host a virtual Q&A on government support for jobseekers and employers.

Apprenticeships Minister Gillian Keegan MP will meet local apprentices before hosting a discussion on apprenticeship opportunities.

Mr Bradley said: "Our local community is incredibly important to Gloucester Rugby, so we're delighted to be co-hosting the Gloucestershire Jobs, Skills and Apprenticeship LiftOff.

"At a time when new opportunities will be so important and we seek to widen our own team with a number of new part-time jobs on offer, I look forward to helping the county LiftOff in September."
