One of the main roads into Gloucester will be closed for 11 nights from Monday, July 8 for resurfacing work.
Cheltenham Road will be closed from 7pm each night until 7am the following morning on weekdays from July 8 to July 22.
Highways crews will complete what Gloucestershire County Council are calling "vital resurfacing" work along a total of 7,422 square metres of road surface, laying 1,078 tonnes of material.
The road will be closed from the junction with Greyhound Gardens and Nine Elms Road through to beyond the junction with Elmbridge Road.
A diversion route will be in place that will see vehicles diverted along the A417, Corinium Avenue and Barnwood Road before re-joining Cheltenham Road.
The diversion route will be signed. The work and diversion will not take place during weekends.
Councillor Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: "We're resurfacing the busy Cheltenham Road in Longlevens as part of our £150 million promise to upgrade the county's highways.
"This road carries nearly 17,500 vehicles a day so we're keeping disruption to a minimum by making the improvements at night time.
"I'd like to thank local residents and road users for their patience."
Bus services will be affected during the work with the 94 and 94U operated by Stagecoach West diverted along the planned diversion.
This will result in changes to bus services during the work and passengers are being advised to plan their journey by using www.stagecoachbus.com
