Housing development to support 215-plus jobs

As one of the UK's biggest house builders begins transforming land beside one of the Gloucestershire's biggest business parks it has revealed just how many jobs the site will support.

On top of that the developer, David Wilson Homes, has also announced the name of the man leading the project to build the 71 homes at what it is calling Sunningend View in Brockworth.

Matt Freed has been named as the site manager at the firm's development, adjacent to the Gloucester Business Park.

"Sunningend view will support around 215 jobs," said a spokeswoman for the company, part of the Barratt Developments since 2007.

"David Wilson Homes is currently working on four developments across Gloucester (either launched or due to soon launch) supporting around 400 new homes, supporting around 1,200 jobs."

Mr Freed, who has eight years' experience in site management and been in the housing industry since he was 16, will be responsible for overseeing construction at the site, liaising with construction workers, subcontractors and suppliers.

He will also play a role in mentoring apprentices on the Brockworth development.

"Progress is good and we're all looking forward to opening the doors to what will be an impressive new community at Sunningend View launching later this year," said Mr Freed.

David Wilson Homes managing director, Ian Menham, said: "We are delighted to have Matt overseeing our new development and know he will do an excellent job."

Sunningend View features a development of two, three and four bedroom homes forming part of the Coopers Edge community in Brockworth.

The new homes are within walking distance of Coopers Edge School and Whittle Square which has a superstore, restaurant and health club.
