Punchline Business and Community Champion: Warners Budgens donates essentials to charity volunteers

A local store in Moreton-in-Marsh has donated hand sanitisers and masks to volunteers for a local charity.

Lucy Worrall from Warners Budgens said: "We were approached by Cotswold Friends, a charity we've worked with in past. They do lots in Moreton to help elderly people and people who need support.

"One of their staff members had purchased one of our masks and they wondered if we would we be able to donate anything for their volunteers."

The store donated 50 hand sanitisers and 50 masks to the charity.

That's why Punchline has nominated them as our latest Business and Community Champion - an initiative backed by GFirst LEP, the Growth Hub, Gloucestershire County Council and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.

Lucy said: "Potentially we are helping out 50 volunteers. Without the donation, they would be paying for these things themselves, which doesn't seem fair when they are donating their time."

Cotswold Friends provides friendship, support and transport to older and vulnerable people in the north Cotswold community, with the aim of combating loneliness and isolation. While its social activities are unable to take place due to coronavirus, volunteers have been visiting people and doing their shopping.

Warners Budgens has four stores - three in Gloucestershire and one in Warwickshire.
