Bus travel with Stagecoach West just became so much easier

A new faster and hassle-free payment method has now been rolled out on all Stagecoach West buses and it is already proving to be a huge hit with customers.

Contactless payment has been introduced on all 280 buses operated by Stagecoach West throughout Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire and South Herefordshire.

The investment of just under half a million pounds means that customers just have to tap their contactless-enabled credit or debit card as they get on the bus, wait for the bleep, collect the ticket and hop on board.

Stagecoach West's managing director Rupert Cox said: "The introduction of contactless payments is making bus travel even easier. Our customers can pay quickly, safely and securely and never worry about digging for change again.

"So at busy times such as the rush hour there is less queueing and buying your bus ticket is much quicker. It takes barely a second for a contactless payment to register.

"It also means that our drivers can avoid having to issue vouchers instead of change when they are given high denomination bank notes.

"Everyone from busy Mums to people enjoying a night out can benefit and it is secure.

"The roll out of contactless payments on our buses has involved a major investment for Stagecoach but we believe the benefits for our customers are overwhelming."

Contactless is the fast and secure way to pay for transactions under £30. All you need is a contactless-enabled card or mobile with Apple Pay or Android Pay installed and ready to use.

It is secure - contactless payments have the same level of protection as Chip and PIN payments.
