Bus station development gathers pace
29th March 2018
Construction of the new £7.5 million bus station in Gloucester is gathering speed.
As our latest picture shows the distinctive outline of the modern public transport hub is now taking shape.
Work on the bus station is expected to be finished by September.
It includes a modern fully enclosed concourse, 12 bus bays, a manned ticket office, electronic timetable displays, high-spec public toilets, a new cafe and CCTV.
A foundation stone will be laid next week to mark the beginning of the next phase of the construction work.
With the steel frames now in place, this will mark the start of the stone walls which will form the entrance to the building alongside Station Road.
Cllr Paul James, leader of Gloucester City Council and cabinet member for regeneration said, "The bus station is really taking shape now and this latest phase will demonstrate that we are building something of real quality for the city.
"I'm delighted we are using local materials, which will help us to create something distinctive that the city can be proud of."
