‘Builders’ tea brewed in support of Armed Forces

A Bishop's Cleeve based house building company has been showing its support for the Armed Forces by taking part in the annual 'Big Brew Up' fundraising event.

The Big Brew Up' is a Soldiers, Sailors and Air Force Association (SSAFA) initiative which takes place annually and raises vital funds for Forces personnel and their families.

Bovis Homes held a special event at its Western regional headquarters at Cleeve Hall in Bishop's Cleeve yesterday to coincide with national events.

The fundraising efforts saw Bovis Homes staff baking cakes and brewing cups of tea to raise money for Forces personnel and their families, as well as quizzes, competitions and a chance to chat about the Armed Forces and raise awareness.

The Bovis Homes team also received a special visit from 6th Battalion The Rifles, a reservist battalion of over 500 soldiers from the South West and West Midlands, who brought along some of their military equipment, and talked to staff about what they do.

Bovis Homes Head of Talent and former Royal Engineer Roger Morton said: "We're delighted to be able to take part in these national events, and would like to thank our friends from 6th Battalion The Rifles for joining us.

"Bovis Homes is committed to supporting the Armed Forces family, including our own staff who are reservists or have family actively deployed."

Bovis Homes has a long history of support for the military and last year became an official signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant.

At the same time, the company also launched its Armed Forces Discount Scheme, which provides a discount on the price of a Bovis Home to serving members of the Armed Forces (regular or reserve), as well as a package of extras (carpets, curtains, and integrated appliances) and help towards legal fees.

Together these incentives help to reduce the hidden hassle of buying a home for people who may not be familiar with, or are unable to dedicate much time to, the process.
