Affordable homes completed

A 71-home affordable housing development in Cheltenham has been completed.
Gloucestershire-based housing association Bromford finished the final few homes last week, getting them ready for new customers to move in.
The new homes were built by Bromford's in-house construction team on a brownfield site on Village Road in Cheltenham, which was previously occupied by the Douglas Equipment factory.
Work started on site in autumn 2023 and was completed on schedule.

The development is made up of a mix of 1-bedroom maisonettes and two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. Of these, 32 were made available to rent, with the other 39 available to part-buy, part-rent through the housing association's shared ownership homes.
There are still three shared ownership homes for sale.
All the homes in the development have been fitted with air source heat pumps as a low-carbon alternative to gas boilers and most also have solar panels fitted. EV charging points have been fitted as standard to all properties.
The cost of the development was supported by funding from Homes England, as part of Bromford's strategic partnership with the government agency.
The homes were completed in phases, with the first customers moving in towards the end of 2024.
James Atkinson, site manager, said: "We're very proud of the new homes we have built here in Cheltenham. Our team has worked hard over the past 18 months to deliver these homes to a high standard and to complete them on time. We've had positive feedback from the customers who moved in a few months ago and hope they enjoy long, happy, healthy lives in our homes."
Stuart Hay, project manager, said: "It's great to see the completion of these modern, energy-efficient homes, which increase the amount of affordable housing in Cheltenham. We remain committed to playing our part in tackling the housing crisis and developing new affordable homes across Gloucestershire and the wider West of England region."
Bromford is the largest housing association in Gloucestershire and is currently building homes on sites in Winchcombe, Stroud and Gloucester. Later this year, it will begin work on a 180-home development on the outskirts of Cheltenham at Old Gloucester Road.
Bromford is part of Bromford Flagship, an 80,000-home housing association, which is one of the biggest builders of affordable housing in the country.
