Brewery puts four prime Gloucestershire pubs up for sale

Four prime pubs in Gloucestershire have been put up for sale by brewery chain Wadworth, for a combined asking price of nearly £1.75million.

All four were previously managed or tenanted businesses that the brewery has decided to sell after undertaking a review of its pub estate.

They form a small part of a 24-site package of pubs that the Wiltshire-based brewery have put on the market, using Christie and Co as their selling agent.

Chris Welham, CEO of Wadworth said: Every year we undertake a review of our pub estate to look at opportunities to transfer pubs between our Managed and Tenanted divisions.

One of the outputs of this review was to consider the sale of a small package of pubs from our Tenanted business.

As a result of this, we have identified 24 sites in total that we believe are not suitable for us to retain long term.

We have therefore decided to take the opportunity to offer these pubs to the market now,

Having informed all the affected Business Partners who operate these pubs, we have engaged Christie and Co to market this package of pubs on our behalf.

The most valuable of the Gloucestershire quartet is the Butcher's Arms at Oakridge Lynch near Stroud which is on the market for £500,000 + VAT.

Described as a "stunning 18th century building... in the picturesque village of Oakridge Lynch amidst glorious countryside", it has a "character bar" and three dining or function rooms.

Next on the list is the £450,000-valued Yew Tree in the village of Conderton on the Gloucestershire-Worcestershire border.

The "characterful" pub and restaurant seats 65 and has a large garden and sits at the heart of a sleepy and picturesque village.

The well-known Haw Bridge Inn on the banks of the River Severn at Tirley, which is on the market for £395,000, a price that includes its 1.7 acre gardens.

The cool sum of £395,000 is also the asking price for The Linden Tree in the centre of Gloucester, which is set over three floors and is within "walking distance of the historic docks."
