Boring science? Not at Cheltenham Science Group!

Cheltenham Science Group has got a packed programme for families over May half term.

This half term, they are trying something new: on Tuesday 28th May, they will be joined by the Ice Queen and Ice Princess to investigate states of matter. Families can also design a crazy course for a golf ball on 29th May, engineer a wind turbine that can lift a load on 30th May and build and programme a Lego robot on 31st May.

Since transforming an empty retail unit in Coronation Square into a hands-on science centre in April 2017, Cheltenham Science Group (CSG) has given families an opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering and maths together. By investing in family science capital, CSG hope to inspire a new generation to pursue STEM careers.

Director, Kirsty Watson, said: "We hope the Ice Queen event - that is particularly aimed at younger children and their families - will encourage people who have never visited a science museum to come and see what we do. It is crucial that our children see that we value the importance of science. For some parents, their memories of science at school is that it was difficult or boring, but young children are full of exciting and interesting questions.

"We want to support parents as they nurture this natural curiosity. With our annual family pass (which costs £20 for 12 months for a family of up to five eople), families can attend our regular drop-in STEM clubs or packed holiday programme. This half term, as well as meeting fairytale princesses, families can create rollercoasters, engineer wind turbines, programme Lego and investigate catapults."

Admission to the science centre costs £2 per person or £7.50 for a family. During half term, it will be open 10am-4pm from Tuesday 28th May to Saturday 1st June.
