Big sales rise for rail ticket app

Digital railcard platform, Trainline, saw a 23% rise in sales for the six months to August.

Net ticket sales hit £2.65 billion, while turnover rose by nearly 20% to £19 million, as reported by This is Money.

Ticket purchases in the firm's UK consumer division rose to over £1.7bn, as more customers booked online and on the day of travel.

Sales were boosted by rail passenger numbers regularly reaching near pre-pandemic levels, as commuters travelled to the office more regularly.

Trainline sales outside Britain rose by around a quarter to £559 million, with particularly strong performances in Spain and Italy.
