Big sales rise at Safran

International technology group, Safran, has reported sales of €8,560 million (£7,155m) for the first half of the year.

The company, which specialises in aerospace and has facilities in Gloucester, saw a 24.5 per cent rise in revenues.

Equipment and defence sales were up by 11.5 per cent, while aircraft interiors were up by 29.6 per cent, compared to low figures in 2021.

Olivier Andriès, CEO of Safran, said: "Safran posted solid results in the first half of the year amid improvement in air traffic in all regions of the world except China.

"Our ability to ramp up production rates is somewhat constrained by a fragile supply chain as the world emerges from the pandemic and we are working hard to ensure timely delivery to airframers. We will continue to optimise our cost base and implement commercial actions to counter inflationary pressure. We feel confident in achieving our full year guidance and beyond."
