Gold Cup sponsor to run for another three years

Sponsorship of one of Cheltenham Racecourse's flagship race - the November Gold Cup - has been secured for another three years.

Online betting business BetVictor has extended its support for a further three years, signing a contract expected to run until 2021.

The BetVictor Gold Cup, worth £160,000, takes place halfway through the three-day racing event on Saturday, November 16 and is the flagship race of The November Meeting.

Ian Renton, regional director for The Jockey Club, Cheltenham and The South West, said: "The November Meeting is very much a mini-festival these days, with over 70,000 through the gates, and to work with BetVictor in its sponsorship of the highlight race of the fixture - The BetVictor Gold Cup - is something I know both parties find of huge benefit."

Matt Scarrott, director of Sportsbook at BetVictor, said: "The November Meeting is a prestigious and exciting event in the horse racing calendar, and with our strong heritage in the sport and ongoing support for British Racing we didn't think twice when we decided to continue with the sponsorship of The BetVictor Gold Cup."

The historic handicap chase is said to boast an outstanding roll of honour featuring the likes of Imperial Commander, winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup, and Grand National hero Gay Trip.

Last year's renewal went the way of the Gary Moore-trained Baron Alco, with subsequent G1 Ryanair Chase victor Frodon taking second under top-weight.

As well as the BetVictor Gold Cup, the operator will sponsor three other races at the event:

The £60,000 G3 BetVictor.com Handicap Chase - 3m 3f 71y, Saturday, November 16th.

the £45,000 BetVictor Handicap Chase - 1m 7f 199y, Friday, November 15.

the £25,000 The BetVictor SmartCards Intermediate Handicap Hurdle - 2m 5f, Saturday, November 16.

The ITV Racing blimp will also bear BetVictor branding during the event and for the four days of The Festival™ presented by Magners in March 2020.
