Beauty brand company to open new £2.5 million county HQ

The Gloucestershire company behind some of the best-known beauty product brands, is launching a new international headquarters.

SLG is to consolidate its 120 staff from their current Cheltenham and Gloucester sites into a new base at The Brewery Quarter in Cheltenham.

The global brand company is the powerhouse behind a new wave of beauty and male grooming brands including COLAB Dry Shampoo, LMX by Little Mix, Zoella Beauty, Johnny's Chop shop and Superdry Performance Grooming.

Work is about to commence on fitting out the 27,000 square foot premises which is located on the first floor of The Brewery retail development above the imminent new Urban Outfitters store.

SLG are aiming to be up and running in the new location by January, 2019.

The vast new space will include design features such as a 20ft Shipping Container staff shop, upcycled vintage telephone boxes, café and bar area, media wall and bleachers stand and innovative transparent orange meeting cube.

The ambitious £2.5 million fit-out scheme is the vision of the in-house creative team at SLG and is being designed with award winning London Interior Design firm Modus Workspace.

Modus have designed office interiors for many leading companies such as Google and Matches Fashion and this year won the Design & Build Company of the Year at the prestigious Mixology 2018 Awards.

SLG's CEO and chief creative officer, Miles Dunkley said: "We have long felt that the work environment is vital in stimulating creative thinking and intent. In that respect, as a trend and fashion geared business, we wanted to take full advantage of this office move and create the most incredible work space we could.

"The investment we are making is also aimed at ensuring the time our incredibly hardworking staff spend in the office is the most enjoyable that it can be whilst also cementing SLG's Cheltenham foundations for many, many years to come".

The innovatively designed new office space created by SLG will also include a 5,500 sq ft sub-let area available for lease, also from January 2019.

Phil Martin, director of Martin Commercial Properties who manage The Brewery Quarter, said "We're delighted to welcome SLG to The Brewery Quarter. Their addition means that as well as being a destination for leisure, retail, hotel and dining, we are now a hub for business too.

SLG was founded in 1985 by Miles Dunkley's mother and father - Graham and Bobbie Dunkley in Gloucestershire - at the outset making cosmetic sponges and powder puffs

Now it is a fast-beauty innovator and global brand builder with a 2017 turnover of £38 million, projected to be £75 million by 2023

The company has a satellite office in Shanghai
