BBC Radio Gloucestershire breakfast show to get new host
By David Wood | 19th September 2023
A new voice will be taking over BBC Radio Gloucestershire's Breakfast Show from next month.
Jon Smith will be moving from hosting the station's Evening Show to taking the helm at the flagship Breakfast Show from Monday, October 2nd.

Jon will fill the shoes vacated by former Breakfast Show host Mark Cummings, who left the corporation in July after 40 years in radio and 18 years presenting the Breakfast Show.
David Smith has been filling in as Breakfast Show host for the past couple of months.
It seems news of Jon's new role was leaked out as he posted on X last night: "So I get back from my hols and the cat is out of the bag...We launch the BBC Radio Gloucestershire Breakfast Show on Monday 2nd October. Come play from 6am for maximum fun guaranteed!!"
Jon said of himself on LinkedIn: "Since 2014 I've gone from being a local radio apprentice - learning key skills from the ground up - to hosting BBC Radio Gloucestershire's Evening Show. I have a wealth of experience in thoughtful interviewing, audio editing and technical studio expertise."

Mark Cummings decided to leave the BBC following huge changes to BBC local radio which have also seen the departure of a number of other BBC Radio Gloucestershire presenters including Anna King and Faye Hatcher.
Back in May, Mark said: "I decided not to apply for my job when put into a redundancy scenario, but rather take this opportunity to move into a completely different life and leave the party a couple of years earlier than planned."

Punchline says: "Congratulations to Jon on his new role. We wish him well. David has done a sterling job sitting in since July."
