Barton Street stabbing victim dies in hospital

The Bank Holiday Monday incident in Barton Street has become a murder case after the victim died in hospital.

Gloucestershire Police have confirmed that the victim of the attack that happened at around 7.30pm on Monday, August 26 has died in hospital.

The 35-year-old man died yesterday at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and officers are now treating his death as murder.

In a statement released today, Gloucestershire police said: "The attack happened shortly before 7.30pm on Monday 26 August, when police received a report that a man had been assaulted and suffered multiple stab wounds.

"Emergency services attended and the man was taken by the ambulance service to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in a critical condition.

"A man charged in connection with the incident remains remanded in custody following an initial court appearance on 29 August. He will appear at Gloucester Crown Court on 27 September."
