Gloucester bar goes on sale for £599,950

The Heritage Bar in Gloucester which opened its doors in late 2019 is on the market with a price tag just shy of £600,000.

That's £100,000 less than the last time it was put up for sale at the beginning of 2020 before the Covid crisis.

The modern freehold bar is in the city centre next door to Kingsholm Stadium, the home of Gloucester Rugby.

The sports bar and lounge, on Kingsholm Road, quickly became a favourite with rugby fans before the lockdowns. It's on the market with Appleby's estate agents for £599,950.

It was conceived by Gloucester businessman Reg Daldry, who invested £450,000 into converting the former Eastgate Discount Cycle Warehouse.

Mr Daldry, whose day job is managing director of UK Demolition and Construction Ltd, put the bar on the market in January 2020, at that time for £700,000, just weeks after opening it.

"The truth is, running The Heritage is not for us," he said, as he announced his intention to focus on developing other sites, rather than run the pub business.

Wayne Appleby, managing director of Appleby's, said: "It's now a vibrant go-to bar for match days and live music is a regular fixture. It is also ideal for private events.

"We're proud to be representing the owners to secure a willing buyer to take on the opportunity and work on the potential it has to offer."

The rustic decor and furniture add character and charm to an open plan and spacious bar, just right for a matchday pint or a night out with friends.

The business offers a real opportunity to expand on the hard work of the present owner to further develop this thriving venture.

The stage provides space for live bands with numerous screens for viewing matches. There are comfy sofas to sit on, along one side and the projector screen on the back wall are ideal for showing games and helping to generate great atmosphere.

The open plan bar has capacity for 350 people. A kitchen and food outlet serve pub grub and a burger bar is used for match days, is accessible to passing trade outside.
