BAE Systems - the UK's biggest defence company - has struck a deal to buy an American computer simulation company.
The firm - which has a base in Gloucester - has locked onto Bohemia Interactive Simulations, based in Florida.
A spokeswoman for BAE Systems said: "It's the latest step in our strategy to grow our business through investments in R&D and value enhancing acquisitions where they complement or augment our existing capabilities."
The software developer makes training tools for fighter pilots and other military personnel and had its roots in computer gaming.
The firm says that hundreds of thousands of armed forces staff use its 'Virtual Battlespace' simulation every year. It is owned by Riverside Company, a US private equity firm.
The cost of the deal has not been disclosed.
In September, BAE Systems acquired In-Space Missions, a UK company that designs, builds and operates satellites and satellite systems.
