B&M closes Gloucester store
By Matt Hall | 3rd August 2022
Discount retailer B&M closed its doors for the last time on July 23 at its Southgate Street store in Gloucester city centre.
A sign put up in the shop window at the start of July announced the closure, thanking loyal customers who had shopped at the site over the years.
The poster read: "Dear customers, we regret to inform you that on 23/07/22 this store will be closing its doors. We would like to thank everyone for shopping with us over the many years we've been trading at this store. Many thanks, B+M team."
This news comes as the retailer opened an out of town store at Kingsway Retail & Leisure Park in November 2020.
As well as the B&M Home Store with Garden Centre, the park, developed by Robert Hitchins Ltd, contains Pure Gym and 205 parking spaces on a three-acre brownfield site in Newhaven Road.
Formed in 1978, B&M employs more than 28,000 staff in 660 stores all over the UK.
The Southgate Street store was formally a Marks & Spencer branch.
Punchline has approached B&M for a comment.
