Autumn fayre raises £6,500 for hospice

Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice's autumn fayre raised more than £6,500 for the charity - which could pay for over 400 hours of specialist hospice care.

Local people donned their wellies and waterproofs to take to the hospice grounds for a day of fun, food and live music and entertainment, all officially opened by the Mayor of Cheltenham, Councillor Klara Sudbury.

Gloucestershire Morris Dancers gave a special performance to close the fair, rounding off a day of performances throughout Cheltenham, in which they collected more than £1,000 for the charity, thanks to the generosity of local people.

Elise Hoadley, Director of Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice said, "I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported this event, which over the past three years has helped raise a staggering £21,000 for our hospice.

"Despite the wet weather it was great to see local families enjoying time together in our hospice grounds, helping raise much needed funds for our care. We received help from so many people including our fabulous volunteers from the hospice, corporate volunteers who helped get everything in place and friends and volunteers from local groups too."

Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice is the only inpatient unit in Gloucestershire giving specialist hospice care to people aged 18 and over living with conditions like cancer, heart failure and lung disease, alongside its Day Hospice programme and Hospice at Home team.

It also offers family and bereavement support, rehabilitation, complementary therapies, spiritual care and befriending.
