Asda launches express delivery service – at a cost

Asda has become the latest supermarket to trial an online service for delivery in an hour.
It will be the first chain to offer its full range for an express delivery, but it will come at a cost - a delivery charge of £8.50, as reported by Retail Gazette.
Shoppers living within three miles of stores in Halifax, Rotherham and Poole will be the first to try the express deliveries.
Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's already offer one-hour deliveries through partners including Amazon, Deliveroo and Uber Eats, but none of them offer a full product range.
Under the new service, Asda shoppers can order up to 70 items and have them delivered within an hour, or have an unlimited basket delivered within four hours.
If popular, Asda plans to roll the service out to more stores, although it's not yet known whether the £8.50 delivery charge will prove too steep for most customers.
The Big Four supermarket is also extending its partnership with Uber Eats from 200 to more than 300 stores, with 500 popular products, including fruit, vegetables and alcohol available for rapid delivery.
