Argos launches space-saving half Christmas tree

It's the eternal Christmas dilemma- do you put baubles on the back of your tree or squash it into a corner?

Argos has come up with the solution- a half fir which tucks neatly against the wall.

Small enough to fit in the confines of a canal boat, the three-foot artificial tree comes pre-lit with 20 golden lights and costs £55.

Argos came up with the idea after research showed three quarters of Brits will struggle to fit a Christmas tree in their house this year.

The retailer, which has stores in Gloucester Quays and Barnwood, said searches for 'slim trees' increased by 39 per cent in the last two weeks as Brits look for more practical options.

It said 76 percent move furniture out to make way for their tree and 84 percent are prepared to sit on the floor just so they can have one.

The study also revealed almost a fifth of households have given up decorating the back of the Christmas tree as nobody sees it anyway.

An Argos spokesperson said: "The Pre-Lit Half Christmas Tree that is guaranteed to be hassle free, sitting flush against the wall and only taking up half the space (45cm front-to-back). "Perfect for Brits with little room."

We may only be in November but the frenzy for festive fare has already begun with retailers keen to cash in early.

And they have come up with some truly weird and wacky ideas to suit every taste.

If you firmly believe there should be two sides to every Christmas tree then the White Stores revolving stand is for you.

Currently on sale for £33.99 it can hold trees from 5ft to 8ft and gently rotates to show off all your decorations.

If you want that wow factor you could pair it with the 8ft Lodgepole Fir which will set you back an eye-watering £499.99.

Maybe minimalism is more your thing.

Less is definitely more when it come to this 61.5cm high metal tree sold by The Maisie for £39.95.

It may look like a kids toy but this tree by Portable Partions Company is actually 137 cm high.

It will set you back £521.51 and you build it yourself out of enormous blocks.

For those wanting to choose the more sustainable option, Life Before Plastic has this wooden tree made from responsibly-sourced coppiced hazel wood from a Norfolk forest.

It comes in heights from 2-6ft and costs from £99.99-474.99.

If cats and toddlers usually ruin your perfect decorations then this 6ft snowy tree costing £70 from Habitat could be for you.

The branches start a little higher than most- which also means there's more room for piling present underneath.

Last but definitely not least is this rainbow tree from Habitat for those who are tired of traditional.

The 5ft tree looks great unadorned or you could go all out and smother it some great big baubles.
