Approval given for new Tewkesbury homes

The new phase of houses at Fiddington Fields in Tewkesbury has been given the green light.

Tewkesbury Borough Council has approved plans from Persimmon Homes Severn Valley for the appearance, landscaping, layout and scale of 304 new homes on the 9.72ha site close to Northway and Ashchurch.

The development is Phase 5 and 6 (also known as H3 and H4) of the wider Fiddington Fields development. Planning permission has already been given for 209 homes to the north east of the site, with future phases of residential development proposed to the west.

The new development will include homes ranging from one to five-bed, with 105 reserved for a local housing association to alleviate pressure on housing waiting lists.

This phase of homes - all of which will have solar panels and electric vehicle charging points - also includes five play areas.

Financial commitments from the developer for delivery of its share of the completed site amounts to over £700,000 for local library and bus services, as well as over £3.4m towards early years and primary education.

Clare Burton, managing director of Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: "Persimmon is delighted with the progress we have made so far at Fiddington Fields and are excited to have won planning consent for our next phase of development.

"Our work is delivering much-needed new homes for both local people and new residents who can bring new spending to the area, as well as tackling housing waiting lists.

"The next phase will also yield additional benefits beyond housing, including biodiversity enhancements, active travel incentives, play areas and financial contributions to local services.

"We are grateful to officers at Tewkesbury Borough Council for working with us on our application and we look forward to our cooperative relationship going forward as we aim to deliver on our shared vision for the town."
