Application for 45 new homes

An application has been submitted to Tewkesbury Borough Council for 45 new homes on land near Norton.

Th 1.7ha site is on vacant, former agricultural land at Brookelands Farm, close to the A38, of which 1.2ha is developable land.

Th application by Black Box Planning, on behalf of Wain Homes, includes new access from Tewkesbury Road, internal roads and footpaths, areas of open space, sustainable drainage, landscaping and associated works.

In total, there will be 27 market homes, nine homes for affordable rent an nine homes for affordable home ownership on the site.

The proposed houses will be built from red and orange brick with brown and grey tiles.

In the Design and Access Statement for the application, Black Box Planning said: "This proposal will be an appropriate addition to the area, following the established development pattern along the A38.

"Making effective use of land where there is low ecological value and development is pre-established. The scheme integrates and supports the existing dwellings in the immediate area with new community spaces."

The site is 0.5 miles from Norton, which has a primary school, playing fields, play park and local pub.

There are regular buses to Gloucester and Tewkesbury close to the site.

Th site is also close to Twigworth, which has a number of new facilities including a small supermarket, cafe, play areas and nursery. A new nursery and primary school are expected to open in 2026.
