Appeal for witnesses to assault in Cheltenham Park

Police in Cheltenham are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was assaulted in Benhall Park Monday night (June 14).

Officers were called to the park shortly after 7.30pm after it was reported that an altercation had taken place between a group of around 20 teenagers.

It was reported that one of the teenagers was assaulted with a hammer after being chased by a boy which resulted in him needing hospital treatment. The boy has since been discharged from hospital.

This took place near to the Cloddymore Bridge and a 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incident after officers searched the area. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Officers believe that this was an isolated incident however they are appealing for witnesses.
