Appeal for witnesses after father and daughter racially abused in park

Officers are appealing for witnesses after a man and child were subjected to racist abuse in Gloucester Park.

The man and his nine-year-old daughter had been walking their dog when there was an argument with a woman walking her dog in the park.

The woman began to racially abuse the man and girl, causing the nine-year-old a lot of distress and upset. She then attempted to set her dog on the victims' dog, but no biting or injuries were caused.

The incident happened close to the Robert Raikes Statue between 11.30am and noon on Saturday 19 March.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who can help identify the woman, who was described as having dyed ginger hair and no teeth, and was dressed in black clothes.

She was walking a white Staffordshire bull terrier style dog, with a black patch on the right eye.

Anybody with information should contact Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 or through the website, quoting incident 277 of March 19.
