Another Cheltenham car showroom is being turned into a gym

A new gym is coming to a former Cheltenham car showroom - no this isn't a repeat story.

An application has been made to Cheltenham Borough Council to change the signage on the old Bristol Street Motors site on Tewkesbury Road.

The site, next to the Manchester Park

business units has been vacant since closing as a Mazda showroom in March 2018.

Earlier this year, the Gym Group successfully applied to Cheltenham Borough Council for a change of use on the site, and to also make some internal alterations.

The latest application will see 16 new signs appear at various locations on or around the building, each displaying the bright blue thegymgroup.com logo.

When it is open, it will be the second former car dealership to have become a gym within the last six months.

Earlier this year, energie Fitness opened in the former Warners Group site off Blaisdon Way.

When the latest gym opens, it will be one of four within a mile of the Kingsditch Roundabout - making the area Cheltenham's fitness central.

As well as the two former car showrooms, there is Simply Gym in the former Cotswold Bowl building on Kingsditch Lane and Sports Direct Gym, next to Aldi on Tewkesbury Road.
