Another big rise in sales for Amazon

Online retail giant Amazon has beaten its first quarter earnings estimates.
Net sales were up 9% to £117bn in the three months to March 31, compared with £107.68bn at the same time last year, as reported by Retail Gazette.

Operating income was up £13.83bn over the quarter, compared to £11.5bn in 2024, while net income soared to £12.85bn, compared to £7.82bn at the same time last year.
The company said it was 'continuing to find meaningful ways to make customers' lives easier and better every day', including improved delivery speed for Prime members and satellites to provide broadband access to homes in rural areas.
Amazon forecasts net sales for the current quarter to be between £119.48bn and £123.24bn. Operating income for the second quarter is expected to be between £9.77bn and £13.15bn, compared to £11.05bn at the same time last year.
