A leading UK regeneration specialist has named the winner of a £1.6million contract to build more commercial units at a business park in Gloucestershire.

St Modwen, in partnership with Stroud District Council, has awarded the contract to Nottingham-based integrated building solutions company JT Tomlinson.

Work will now start on nine new commercial units at Littlecombe Business Park, an integral part of St Modwen and Stroud District Council's £150million mixed-use development Littlecombe in Dursley.

Littlecombe Business Park is already home to eight businesses and the new units will offer occupiers 18,350 sq ft of additional business space for sale or rent, in accommodation sizes ranging from 1,300 sq ft to 8,600 sq ft.

On completion, the entire Littlecombe development will provide:

• 92 acres of mixed-use facilities comprising 450 new homes and apartments; employment space and local job opportunities within easy reach of the M5;

• a community hospital and around 40 acres of green open space where people can live, work and relax for generations to come.

Pete Davies, senior development manager for St Modwen in the South West, said: "Demand for good quality commercial space in Gloucestershire remains buoyant and we are accelerating our building across the region to satisfy market demand, attract more inward investment and provide additional employment opportunities.

"This next phase of commercial building will further strengthen the site's appeal for small and growing businesses whilst providing the potential of attracting up to 70 more jobs for the local area."

Cllr Steve Lydon, leader of Stroud District Council, said: "This is one of the largest brownfield regeneration projects in the county and I am very pleased that this next phase is taking place to contribute to bringing more jobs and investment to the district."

The £150million mixed-use development at Littlecombe and the £22milion Gateway 12 development at Waterwells Business Park, are two of four key sites being developed by St Modwen in Gloucestershire, alongside Quedgeley West and neighbouring Quedgeley East Business Parks at junction 12 of the M5.
