Ann Summers boss dies

The boss of lingerie and sex toys chain, Ann Summers, has died aged 62.

Jacqueline Gold died yesterday (March 16), after seven years of treatment for breast cancer, as reported by the BBC.

Ms Gold is credited with transforming the business, which has stores in Gloucester and Cheltenham, from four backstreet shops into a multi-million pound business with 88 stores across the UK.

She championed female entrepreneurs and women in business, and was made a CBE in 2016 for services to entrepreneurship, women in business and social enterprise.

Ms Gold transformed the Ann Summers brand by making it more 'respectable' and female friendly.

She was behind the Tupperware-style parties for women, which proved an immediate hit, increasing sales, which led to the expansion of the retailer's high street store portfolio.
