And they're off.. National Hunt trainer set for move

Another National Hunt Racing training super centre will be opening in Gloucestershire after ambitious plans were approved by Cotswold District Council.

Fergal O'Brien will be moving his string of horses from his Naunton base to a purpose-built yard Ravenswell Farm in Withington.

O'Brien recorded 33 wins so far this season is currently a neighbour of Cheltenham Gold Cup and Grand National-winning trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies at Grange Farm in Naunton.

The plans will see room for 80 horses, staff accommodation and offices as well as three purpose-built gallops for putting the equine talent to work.

Ravenswell Farm is owned by businessman Rupert Lowe, who had a ten-year stint as chairman of Southampton Football Club between 1996 and 2006.

Gloucestershire has long been the destination for top racing trainers with its location and proximity to the home of National Hunt at Cheltenham Racecourse.

Jonjo O'Neill works out of the magnificent, purpose-built Jackdaws Castle Yard in Temple Guiting which was bought by JP McManus in 2000.

Twiston-Davies - who won the 2010 Cheltenham Gold Cup with Imperial Commander - operates out of the other yard in Naunton.
