By Sophie Ladd | 2nd September 2021
Amazon is to recruit 55,000 more staff globally in India, Germany, Japan and the UK.
This comes as the new Gloucester warehouse build nears completion.
"Amazon continues to grow quickly, and relentlessly invent across many areas," CEO Andy Jassy said in a statement.
Amazon has already created 10,000 more staff in the UK this year, bringing its current total British workforce to 55,000.
The majority of the global recruitments will be for the e-shopping giant's new satellite endeavour, Project Kuiper, which aims to widen broadband access across the globe.
The Gloucester warehouse, adjacent to the Unilever factory and Premier Inn at Centre Seven in Barnwood is due to be completed sometime in the autumn and will create 20 permanent jobs and 90 delivery driver jobs.
More information on the types of jobs available in this 2,500 recruitment drive is expected to be announced on or before September 15th, the date of Amazon's Career Day jobs fair.
